TELL ME ABOUT YOUR JOB.

A statement we hear from strangers, family members, prospective employers. A seemingly simple request that can be deceptively tough to oblige. A lot of people’s jobs differ greatly from their titles, and for good reason: how can a host of duties be compiled neatly into one or several words.

When we were younger, we were often asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” This led to ambitious answers: doctor, lawyer, astronaut. But what do those jobs actually entail? What about all the jobs you’ve never heard of? There must be jobs out there of interest to the kids, young adults, and fully grown adults that don’t want to be doctors, lawyers, or astronauts.

That’s the hope of this project and podcast. To discover new jobs, elucidate the details of jobs we’ve already heard of. Hopefully, a job catalog can be compiled for handy reference and we can entertain along the way.
